Cherry Carroll, from Nimué Gallery in Kingaroy, with junior and senior entries

September 25, 2012

Entries are starting to roll in for Nimué Gallery’s unusual Motors in Motion art competition.

The competition, which is being run in conjunction with the upcoming Motors In Motion  festival in Kingaroy, must reflect the theme “Any Motor In Motion”.

This can be interpreted in many ways … and it’s all up to the imagination of the artist! Everything from witches’ brooms and rocket ships to tractors (a popular theme in the South Burnett recently).

Gallery owner Cherry Carroll said entries can be in any medium but must not exceed one metre square.

They must be delivered to the Nimué Gallery in King Street, Kingaroy, before the end of this week.

Cherry will then hang the entries at the gallery during October so people can drop in and vote for their favourite.

All judging will be done by people’s choice.

On October 26, the entries will be shifted to a hangar at Kingaroy Airport so they can be on display during the big Motors In Motion day on Saturday, October 27.

Votes for the winning entries can also be submitted all day at the Festival.

Judging will be in two categories: adult and children. Winners will be notified after the festival.

There’s a small $8 entry fee for the adult section (which will be donated to charity) but children’s entries are free.  Cash prizes will be awarded to the winner and runner-up in each category.
