The proposed merger of the Toowoomba Golden West South Burnett and Southern Downs Granite Belt tourism organisations has received an overwhelming endorsement by members who attended Special General Meetings of the associations last week.

The joint CEO of the two groups, Mary-Clare Power, thanked members who took time out of their business to attend and to those who took the time to forward their vote by proxy.

The meetings were to consider motions to wind up the old tourism groups.

“There was a good turnout for both meetings and it was clear that our industry is willing and ready to work together as Southern Queensland Country Tourism,” Ms Power said.

The voting results were: SDGBRT Yes – 19, No – 0; TGWSBT Yes – 17, No – 1.
