Tarong Power Station employee Ben Worbs, from Nanango, has received State-wide recognition for his leadership and commitment to his job.
Mr Worbs, a Senior Category Specialist in the Supply team, was a finalist in the Future Leader category at the Queensland Supply Chain Logistics Association Awards.
Tarong Power Station Site Manager Dennis Franklin said the recognition was well-deserved.
“Ben has shown real leadership in his job by managing a team across Queensland that provides a high level of procurement support for all shutdown services and materials requirements for all of Stanwell’s power stations,” Mr Franklin said.
“His development from being a storeman eight years ago to managing such a critical part of our operations is indeed a real credit to him.”
Mr Worbs, who has worked at Tarong Power Station for eight years, said it was nice to be recognised for doing a job that he enjoyed.
“It was fantastic to be nominated for this award and be recognised for a state-wide industry award,” he said.
“I am lucky to have found a profession that I enjoy, and even luckier to have been able to work with a heap of fantastic people.”
Mr Franklin said it was important for people such as Mr Worbs to be recognised for their work in an industry more well-known for trade roles.
“We have a variety of people working at the power station from operators, diesel fitters and electricians through to accountants, health and safety officers, and procurement and supply professionals,” Mr Franklin said.
Senior Category Specialist Tivoli Spragg, based in Stanwell’s Brisbane office, was also a finalist at the Queensland Supply Chain Logistics Association Awards in the Industry Excellence category.
