South Burnett Vietnam Veterans will be commemorating the Battle of Long Tan – and the sacrifice of all servicemen and women during the Vietnam War – at the annual Vietnam Veterans’ Day Service which will be held in Kingaroy on Saturday.
The service will begin at 10:30am at the Rotunda in Memorial Park. All members of the public have been invited to attend.
Chairman of the event, Barry Krosch, said this year’s guest speaker would be South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann.
Mr Barry Haydon will read the poem “Long Tan”, written by Bill Charlton and published in his poetry collection: “A Rugged Bunch Of Diggers”.
There will also be a wreath-laying ceremony, recital of The Ode and one minute’s silence.
