Tarong Power Station is looking for 10 new apprentices and trainees to join the 25 who are already gaining valuable skills at the power station.
In partnership with MRAEL Group, Tarong Power Station is currently recruiting apprentices and trainees to work towards qualifications in rigging, fitting and turning, electrical, boilermaking and business administration.
Tarong Power Station Site Manager Dennis Franklin said the successful applicants would get first-hand experience in maintaining one of Queensland’s largest power stations.
“We take pride in helping people from the South Burnett develop valuable skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives,” Mr Franklin said.
Tarong Power Station second-year apprentice boilermaker Jeremy Moffatt said he was enjoying working at the station and had learned a lot from his supervisors and other senior employees.
“There’s a great culture of teamwork here and everyone is willing to take the time to show you how to do things,” he said.
“It’s great to have access to a learning environment like Tarong Power Station without having to leave my hometown of Kingaroy.”
MRAEL Group Apprentice Specialist Frances Ross said MRAEL was proud to be working with Stanwell on the 2013 intake.
“We have a longstanding partnership with Tarong Power Station and are once again looking forward to working with the power station to mentor the apprentices and trainees through their qualifications,” Ms Ross said.

Applications close at 5:00pm on Friday, August 17. Successful applicants would start work in February 2013.
