Maylene Saltner and Clayton Weazel ensure their children get up each morning, have breakfast and head to Cherbourg State School.
Their sons Clayton, 8, and Jacody, 7, arrive with a spring in their step and ready to learn.
In doing so, they have won their mum and dad the school’s Parent of the Month award for July.
Maylene and Clayton now want all parents to follow their example.
They left Murgon State High School in Year 11 and Townsville high in Year 10 respectively and want their sons to be better educated so they can get jobs they enjoy doing.
“It’s important for them to be able to get work when they grow up,” Clayton said.
“I didn’t get the education I needed. I want to ensure my sons don’t fall into the same trap so they grow to be strong and smart, healthy and happy by having a good education.”
