A large crowd turned out last Friday night for the official opening of the latest exhibition at the Wondai Art Gallery.
They mingled, sipped on wine and listened to live music by Guy Davis, but they also had the opportunity to chat to the four artists who are featured this month.
South Burnett councillor Cheryl Dalton did the opening honours and praised the artists for their “exceptional talents”.
Featured in the main gallery is a retrospective looking back over the career of Kingaroy artist Garry Eyre.
Garry, who won the Wondai Gallery’s acquisitive competition in 2006 and 2008, has pieces on display dating back to 1995 when he held his first exhibition locally at the old Blue Sky Studio above the Kingaroy Library.
In the third gallery, indigenous artist Peter Carlo – fresh from holding art workshops at Cherbourg – has a range of traditional and not-so-traditional works available for sale.
In the Front Gallery are pieces by Julie Postle and Sue Berry while artwork by students from St Joseph’s School in Murgon is featured in Kidz Korner.
The exhibition will remain in the gallery throughout July. Entry is free.
