Southburnett.com.au is proud to be supporting South Burnett On Show, an entertainment showcase being co-ordinated by the South Burnett Wine Industry Association from September 29 to October 1.

But What Is It?

South Burnett On Show is a new concept in low-cost, cross-region entertainment. Instead of having a central event or festival in one location, there will be many mini-events spread out all over the South Burnett, allowing visitors explore the area and the freedom to choose what they wish to attend.

We envisage local wineries, restaurants, art galleries, pubs/clubs, community groups and other interested parties holding a variety of individual “mini events” that highlight all that is great about this fantastic region.

What you choose to do is completely up to you. It could be music on the lawn at a cellar door, a vineyard walk, a locally themed menu at a restaurant, yabby races at a pub, an opening night at a gallery, a fundraising breakfast barbecue … or anything else you can think of that will show visitors the very best of our great food, wine, culture and community spirit.

When Is It?

Anytime that you choose on the new long weekend: Saturday, September 29 to Monday, October 1.

You are more than welcome to hold your events/entertainment at a time of your choosing over this period and they can go for a short time or over the whole weekend, it’s your choice. Events on the Friday evening may also be suitable.

How Does It Work?

All that is required is for you to let the organisers know what you are doing, where you are doing it and at what time, along with any other relevant details.

This will then be listed on the event program. If you are unsure of the best time to hold your event, or want to make sure that you don’t clash with a similar event, contact the organisers for advice.

The deadline for submitting your event will be 4:00pm on August 3 to allow time for printing and marketing of the event.

The event will be promoted via printed flyers and posters, online stories and details on www.southburnett.com.au and www.southburnettwine.com.au, plus dedicated Facebook and Twitter pages.

You are also encouraged to promote your individual events, plus the event as a whole, through your own mailing lists, advertising, websites, etc.

What Does It Cost?

The organisers only require a $30 + GST marketing levy to cover the cost of printing and advertising. The cost of your individual event is completely in your hands, so whether you want to bribe a local artist to perform for a few bottles of your finest verdelho, or you wish to pay Gina Rinehart, Bono and Bill Gates to be waiters, you can spend as much or as little as you wish.

You can make your event free, charge admission or ask for a donation … again, the choice is completely yours.
