Did you know you the court could seize your vehicle and sell it under “hoon laws” … even if you haven’t been caught chucking doughnuts?
Type 2 hoon laws target repeat offenders who are charged with multiple offences in one of five categories:
- Driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle
- Driving whilst unlicensed or disqualified
- Drink driving over 0.15 BAC
- Failing to supply a specimen of breath or blood, or driving under 24-hour suspension
- Driving an illegally modified vehicle.
Twenty-eight vehicles seized from throughout south-east Queensland will be auctioned in accordance with Section 127 of the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 on the Gold Coast next week, including 11 impounded under these Type 2 hoon laws.
The vehicles have either been ordered by a Magistrate to become property of the State, have failed to be collected by their owners or have voluntarily been handed over to the State.
They will be auctioned on Wednesday, July 4, from 10:00am at Nationwide Towing and Transport, 12 Industrial Avenue, Molendinar.
Inquiries about the vehicles should be directed to Sgt M Jackson on (07) 5581-2859.
The sales will be subject to any claimant providing evidence of ownership by 4:00pm on Monday.
