Detectives from the Sunshine Coast’s Drug Enforcement Team have arrested 55 people and laid 230 charges after closing an 11-month operation dubbed “Juliet Tangent”.

Police executed search warrants at more than 40 addresses including in Murgon, Gympie, Bundaberg, Mackay and across the Sunshine Coast.

The raids resulted in “significant” drug seizures and the location of pistols, rifles and shotguns, some of which were allegedly stolen.

The operation has resulted in numerous charges including drug trafficking, production, supplying and possession of dangerous drugs and tainted property offences.

A number of items were seized by police including about $100,000 in cash, cars, motorbikes, electrical equipment and a boat estimated to be valued at $140,000.

The Sunshine Coast detectives were assisted by various squads including police drug dogs and the State Crime Operations Command.

Police believe the closure of this operation will significantly affect organised crime groups within the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas.
