The first round of a new South Burnett talent quest – dubbed the “Big Break” – will kick off tonight at the Commercial Hotel in Kingaroy.
Joint organiser and MC for the event Michael “DJDirex” Monk says the competition not only provides a chance to be noticed – and win prizes – it was also a fantastic opportunity for aspiring musos to meet and network with other musical-minded locals.
“In other events like this that I’ve been involved in there have been new friendships forged and some exciting collaborations,” Michael said.
“I fully expect to see at least one or two new musical acts to come out of the Big Break.”
Nominations are still being taken for the auditions, and local residents aged over 16 are urged to get involved.
“You never know what doors will open for you at the Big Break!” Michael said.
