Newly elected South Burnett Regional Mayor Wayne Kratzmann officially opened the latest exhibition at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on Friday night … one of his first official duties since taking over as mayor.
Gallery president Elaine Madill said there was a good crowd for the opening, which featured works by Brisbane-based artist Zane Stuart.
The artist – who also maintains a home in Wondai – works at the Queensland Art Gallery.
He’s no stranger to the Wondai Gallery … it hosted a 25-year retrospective of his work in 2009.
Zane’s latest exhibition focusses on the Wooroolin Wetlands. The works range from a semi-abstract style to near-realism. Zane says artists Jeffrey Smart, Lloyd Rees and Brett Whitely have most influenced his work.
Also featured at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery this month are photographs by Murgon photographer Kathy Steinhardt, watercolours by Alan Banfield and fabric art by Jan Banfield.
Wondai Kindergarten is featured in the Kidz Korner.
These exhibitions will remain at the gallery throughout May. The Wondai Regional Art Gallery is open from 10:00am-4:00pm daily and entry is free.
