Pulse Health – owners of the South Burnett Private Hospital in Kingaroy – have signed a $6.25 million conditional contract to buy a private rehabilitation hospital at Cooroy on the Sunshine Coast.

Pulse Health CEO Mr Justin Matthews told southburnett.com.au this morning that the purchase – and the linkage with the South Burnett Private Hospital – would more clearly define a pathway for local residents in need of rehabilitation services.

He said it would also achieve a better balance for Pulse between its NSW and Queensland assets.

The 36-bed Eden Rehabilitation Centre is the only pure private rehabilitation hospital located between Brisbane’s northern suburbs and Cairns.

“The Eden Rehabilitation Centre is a perfect fit with our core business strategy of operating small to medium-sized private hospitals with between 30 and 90 beds,” Mr Matthews.

“The facility will operate closely with our two other facilities in Queensland, at Gympie and Kingaroy.”

Mr Matthews said Pulse saw “great potential” in the hospital, including the possibility of increasing its current 36-bed capacity.
