Cooyar’s celebration of its 65th annual show got off to a big start on Saturday night with the annual Show Ball held at Cooyar Hall.
Cooyar Miss Showgirl Sharyn Bauer and Miss Teen Showgirl Brooke Barron were sashed to applause from the crowd.
The evening featured music by popular Toowoomba band, the Silvertones.
This year’s Cooyar Show will be held on Saturday, February 22.
It will be officially opened by Stan Wallace, from the Queensland Country Life, at 12:30pm.
As well as all the usual show highlights, including pavilion exhibits, stud beef cattle and side show alley, there’ll be chainsaw events and post-ripping with cash prizes.
Competitors will also be keenly contesting the Sub-chamber Beef Young Judges and Young Paraders competitions.
A special trophy has been presented to the Show Society this year in memory of the late Ken Munt. It will be presented to the most successful “family unit” exhibiting at the show.
In the evening, there’ll be live music, fireworks and the ever-popular Cooyar Bull Ride.
