89th Annual Goombungee Show
Goombungee Showgrounds 11th-12th April 2003
The 89th Annual Goombungee Show will be held at Goombungee Showgrounds on Friday and Saturday the 11th and 12th April 2003.

This year's Show has several new additions. These include the Country Hat With A Difference competition, a Ute Show, a Cotton Creations Fashion Parade and Trail Bike displays.

As usual, the first day of the Show will largely be given over to judging (Saturday is the Show's main public day). Here's what will be happening:

 
Friday 11th April 2003


Today's events are largely confined to judging pavilion entries in the following categories:
  • Farm Produce (50 categories)
  • Fruits and Vegetables (81 categories)
  • Wine making (12 categories)
  • Beer making (9 categories)
  • Floriculture (71 categories)
  • Home Cookery (79 categories)
  • Needlework (104 categories)
  • Fine Arts (13 categories)
  • Photography (34 categories)
  • School Work (14 categories)

NB: Many pavilion sections will have Junior categories. There's also a special section for Men in the Home Cookery category.

 
Saturday 12th April 2003


Today is the Show's biggest day and there'll be a full spread of fun and activities for everyone. Gates will open at 8:00am and activities will follow this schedule:
  • 8:00am - Gates open and Ring Events commence
  • 9:00am - Stud Beef, Dog and Poultry judging commence
  • 9:30am - Dairy Cattle and Boer Goats judging
  • 10:00am - Angora Goats and Pig judging
  • 11:30am - Official Opening of the Show
  • 1:00pm - Chainsaw events commence with a draw
  • 2:00pm - Master and Miss Tiny Tot judging
  • 2:30pm - Grand Parade
  • 3:00pm - Cotton Creations Fashion Parade
  • 3:00pm - Ute Competition judging commence
  • 3:30pm - Country Hat With A Difference competition on stage
  • 4:00pm - Exhibit collection
  • 4:30pm - Live musical entertainment commences with Desert Rain and continues until late in the evening
  • 5:30pm - Hay Stacking Competition
  • 6:00pm - Trail Bike displays
  • A Bar and BBQ will be operating throughout the day
  • Face painting for children
  • Trade Show - this will be held in the Main Pavilion throughout the day
  • Side Show Alley - bigger, better and operating all day!
  • Market stalls.... and more!

 

2003 Show Admission Fees
Steep rises in public liability insurance have meant the Goombungee-Haden Show Society have had to increase prices slightly over last year. Even so, the 2003 admission fees are only marginally higher than they were last year:
  • Adults: $8.00
  • High school students: $4.00
  • Primary school students: $2.00

 

2003 Show Society Membership Fees
Membership of the Goombungee-Haden Show Society is available for both singles and couples and dues must be paid before the Show each year. Membership entitles you to a pass for yourself (or two passes, if a couple) to the grounds on Show Day as well as free admission for any children under 14 years of age. 2003 membership fees are:
  • Singles: $8.00
  • Couples: $16.00
