The South Burnett Saints will be hosting their first pre-season trial game in Kingaroy this Sunday.<\/p>\n

The AFL team, who just missed out on winning the Grand Final in the Darling Downs 2nd Division competition last year, are hoping for even better things this time around.<\/p>\n

And they’re keen to get into winning form early.<\/p>\n

The Sunday match, which will be played against the Chinchilla Suns, will kick off at 11:30am.<\/p>\n

Admission is free and spectators are very welcome to come and cheer the home team on.<\/p>\n

“We’re all excited to start playing footy after a heavy workload from the pre-season training,” acting men’s coach Adam Branch said.<\/p>\n

“We have recruited well in the senior men\u2019s team, with additional height across the playing list.<\/p>\n

“And we’re looking forward to seeing the younger players development in the senior team, too.”<\/p>\n

This year – for the first time – the Saints will also be fielding their first all-women\u2019s team in the Darling Downs competition.<\/p>\n

About 18 players have already put up their hands up, and have been training for the past few weeks under the watchful eye of men\u2019s team captain Adam Bowater.<\/p>\n

“We could still do with a few more female players, though, so anyone who’s interested is welcome to come along to a training night and try out,” Adam said.<\/p>\n

Training for the Men’s and Women’s teams is held at Lyle Vidler Oval on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45pm.<\/p>\n
