Local growers with an interest in mungbeans have been invited to attend an industry field walk at the Hermitage Research Facility in Warwick on Thursday, March 26.<\/p>\n

The event is being organised by the Australian Mungbean Association and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF), in conjunction with Pulse Australia and the Grains Research and Development Corporation.<\/p>\n

The day will kick off with a barbecue breakfast before growers tour the facility\u00a0to learn more about the latest in mungbean crop protection and the development of new varieties.<\/p>\n

Key speakers from DAF will be pulse breeders Col Douglas and Merrill Ryan, senior entomologist Hugh Brier and pathologist Lisa Kelly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also lined up to speak on the day will be University of Southern Queensland\u2019s Associate Professor Mal Ryley and Gordon Cumming, from Pulse Australia.<\/p>\n

Demonstrations during the tour will highlight mungbean breeding and pathology research trials and a showcase of mungbean varieties.<\/p>\n

There will also be time for discussion on mungbean insect pest control for the upcoming harvest of commercial crops.<\/p>\n
