Not-for-profit organisations in the South Burnett who could benefit from unpaid community service labour have been invited to contact the Queensland Corrective Services department.<\/p>\n

Last financial year North Coast Region Probation and Parole community service workers completed 63,262 hours of unpaid community service valued at an estimated $1.265 million to the community.<\/p>\n

A Department spokesman said many local volunteer community groups, council initiatives, church groups and sporting clubs across the region had benefited directly from the work completed by community service workers. <\/p>\n

The labour supplied goes directly toward the community organisation’s goals and provides community service workers with an opportunity to develop positive work habits, self discipline and positive social behaviours associated within a working environment. <\/p>\n

“Community service workers across the North Coast Region are vital to the day-to-day operations of local community groups,” North Coast Regional Manager Ursula Roeder said.<\/p>\n

“Many of these community groups are reliant on the assistance community service workers provide.”<\/p>\n
