What dish defines the South Burnett?\u00a0 Australia’s national broadcaster would love to know …<\/p>\n

The ABC has launched “Australia Cooks”, a nationwide search to find the dishes that best define various regions.<\/p>\n

Winners have the chance to see their recipe professionally cooked, photographed and featured in a new, full-colour book published by ABC Books.<\/p>\n

“Australia Cooks” is also supported by ABC Rural and ABC Local Radio.<\/p>\n

It is a national call out to everyone who loves to cook.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAustralia Cooks provides the opportunity to love your local food producers and flaunt your food flair, there’s a story to be told about our blossoming food culture in regional Australia and the talented people behind it,\u201d Kelli Brett, the presenter of ABC Radio\u2019s The Main Ingredient, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout the nation every region in the country has a dish it does best, made with local produce that can\u2019t be beaten anywhere; we want to hear from towns all around Australia, what special ingredients they have and how they cook with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Australia Cooks is about showcasing cuisines made up of locally produced ingredients that are unique or notable to their region across the country.<\/p>\n

One suggestion already put forward by the ABC is capers for Kingaroy (they must have forgotten about pork and peanuts!)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Entries will be judged on regionality, simplicity, and balance.<\/p>\n

The competition closes on Sunday, March 8.<\/p>\n
