FLASHBACK: the Kawana Bananas came out on top in the men’s final for the second year running at last year’s Soccer Sevens … will they slip up this weekend?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kingaroy will be awash with soccer enthusiasts this weekend when more than 600 visiting players, managers, referees and fans descend on the town.<\/p>\n

They’ll be taking part in the Evolution Solar South Burnett Soccer Sevens Carnival which is being held at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy, on Saturday and Sunday, February 21-22.<\/p>\n

Matches will kick off at 10.00am on Saturday continue through until 5:00pm.<\/p>\n

The Carnival will then recommence at 8:00am on Sunday, culminating with the Women\u2019s and Over 35s’ Finals at 2:30pm and the Men\u2019s Final at 3:00pm, before Presentations at 3:30pm.<\/p>\n

This year’s Soccer Sevens promises to be the biggest ever held, with a record 52 teams participating. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Along with local teams, clubs will be coming from all over south-east Queensland to compete, including teams from Bundaberg, the Fraser Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Chinchilla, and Roma.<\/p>\n

In all, 24 Men\u2019s teams, 16 Women\u2019s teams and a dozen Over 35 Men\u2019s teams have registered to play.<\/p>\n

The Soccer Sevens Carnival has been running for more than 30 years and has become a permanent fixture on the State’s football calendar.<\/p>\n

It’s also arguably the biggest single sporting event on the South Burnett’s annual calendar.<\/p>\n

And despite often fierce competition, the Carnival has always been played in the “spirit of the game” and many strong friendships have been forged over the years.<\/p>\n

The Soccer Sevens Carnival also gives the local economy a huge boost with an influx of visitors – especially motels, caravan parks, restaurants and pubs.<\/p>\n

A canteen, barbecue, bar, coffee van and a First Aid tent will all be running on the grounds on both days of the Carnival.<\/p>\n
