It’s going to be a huge couple of days of rugby league action on the Gold Coast, and the Cherbourg Hornets are going to be at the heart of it.<\/p>\n

The “Deadly Choices” Interstate Challenge will be played tonight at the Southport Tigers home ground.<\/p>\n

As a warm-up to the annual Murris v Kooris challenge, the Hornets will be taking on the Brisbane Natives for the Gyemore Shield from 6:00pm.<\/p>\n

Thursday:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • 5:00pm – Women’s – Natives v Jaydon Adams Memorial<\/li>\n
  • 6:00pm – Men’s – Cherbourg Hornets v Brisbane Natives (Gyemore Shield)<\/li>\n
  • 8:00pm – Walgett Aboriginal Connection v Badu Kulpiyam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Badu Kulpiyam won last year’s QAIHC Arthur Beetson Murri Rugby League Carnival at Redcliffe after the winning team, Southern Dingoes Blue, was disqualified for fielding a suspended player.<\/p>\n

    UPDATE: The Hornets and Natives were tied 16-all at half-time but in the second half, Brisbane Natives ran out winners, defeating the Cherbourg Hornets 40 – 26.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    * * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The league action will continue on Friday night, when the Harvey Norman All Stars match will be played at CBus Stadium at Robina.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The All Stars match was originally launched on the anniversary of the Federal Government\u2019s Apology to the Stolen Generation in 2010. It has been played every year since except 2014.<\/p>\n

    Former Hornet Chris Sandow has been selected in the 2015 Indigenous side and Errol Simpson Jnr is playing in the Qld Indigenous U16 side.<\/p>\n

    The All Stars night will kick off with a mixed Touch Football match, followed by the NSW v Qld U16s game and a women’s game before the main match.<\/p>\n

    Friday:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • 3:00pm – Touch Football<\/li>\n
    • 4:00pm – Qld Indigenous U16s v NSW Indigenous U16s<\/li>\n
    • 5:35pm – Indigenous Women’s All Stars v Women\u2019s All Stars Game<\/li>\n
    • 7:30pm – All Stars Main Game<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Proposed changes to NRL rules will be tested during the All Stars game.<\/strong>All scrums will be moved to the centre of the field, and kick of 40 metres or more which finds touch will give possession to the kicking team, restarted with a tap.<\/p>\n

      The attacking team will have the choice of which side the ball is fed into scrums. And the lock from the attacking team will not
      \nhave to bind in scrums.<\/p>\n

      The changes are designed to allow more attacking opportunities.<\/p>\n

      There will also be four touch judges for the game.<\/p>\n
