officials<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>February 12, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The focus on women in sport has shifted to football with the first of three &#8220;Pink Soccer&#8221; days planned for the South Burnett held in Kingaroy on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>All footy codes seem to be targeting girls and women this year, with the Saints AFL club putting together a women&#8217;s team, a women&#8217;s rugby league team mooted, and now Football South Burnett going all out to encourage more girls and women into the game.<\/p>\n<p>The free \u201cgirls only\u201d training days are aimed at girls and women aged 12 and over.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-three participants were put through their paces on Tom Alford Oval on Sunday by 2013 Queensland Coach of the Year Karen Thomas, from the South West Queensland Thunder; Australian representative futsal goal-keeper Katlin Peterson, from Oakey; and SWQ Thunder Open women&#8217;s coach Craig Burgess.<\/p>\n<p>They also did fitness training with Belinda Lewis from Fresh PT at Morayfield.<\/p>\n<p>The training has been funded by the State Government&#8217;s recent &#8220;Get Playing&#8221; funding round which focussed on women&#8217;s and girls&#8217; participation in sport.<\/p>\n<p>The next sessions will be held at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nanango<\/strong> \u2013 March 1, 9:00am at Nanango Soccer Fields (registration closes February 23); and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Wondai<\/strong> \u2013 March 8, 9:00am at Wondai Soccer Grounds\u00a0(registration closes March 1)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE February 25:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>The &#8220;Girls In Pink&#8221; football training day which had been scheduled for this Sunday (March 1) in Nanango has been postponed.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Organisers said today this was due to illness and a change in commitments for some of the key people involved.<\/p>\n<p>However, the day will go ahead at a later date, with a date yet to be announced.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Girls In Pink&#8221; day scheduled for Wondai on March 8 will still be going ahead.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_95952\"
