The Queensland Building and Construction Commission has urged consumers, contractors and suppliers to be cautious in their dealings with Grant Laurence Brydon who trades as Kingaroy Sheds.<\/p>\n

QBCC Commissioner Steve Griffin said on Tuesday that Mr Brydon does not hold a QBCC licence to undertake shed\/garage building over 10 square metres and was not able to carry out, or enter into contracts to carry out, shed\/garage building work in Queensland.<\/p>\n

He said Mr Brydon had been carrying out unlawful building work in Kingaroy and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

The QBCC has investigated Mr Brydon for unlicensed contracting, for having no written contracts and for taking excessive deposits, and has issued infringement notices for these offences, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI warn anyone dealing with Mr Brydon to exercise extreme caution and seek legal advice before making any payments, to protect their interests,\u201d Mr Griffin said.<\/p>\n

The Queensland home warranty insurance scheme may not be available to all consumers if engaging unlicensed contractors.<\/p>\n

The QBCC urged home owners to conduct research before engaging contractors, and recommended engaging a licensed contractor even for small jobs.<\/p>\n
