The result of Saturday’s State Election is still unknown but the two Katter’s Australian Party MPs who may help form the eventual government say rural and regional Queensland are a priority for them.<\/p>\n

The Member for Mt Isa Rob Katter and the Member for Dalyrymple Shane Knuth spoke to the media outside Parliament on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Mr Katter said it was time rural and regional Queensland enjoyed “the spoils” in terms of jobs and industry.<\/p>\n

He said they would work with any government that was prepared to “unlock that prosperity that was lying latent in the regions”.<\/p>\n

Mr Katter said he was bound to deliver to his electorate first, and listed “no asset sales” as top of the list.<\/p>\n

He also supported “productive infrastructure” not “populist infrastructure”.<\/p>\n

\u201cDams, roads and rail lines not sports stadiums and traffic tunnels,\u201d Mr Katter said.<\/p>\n

Mr Knuth said the KAP MPs had not yet spoken to either Labor or LNP but were open for discussions.

\n\u201cWe\u2019re basically not interested in the great Labor Party or the great Liberal Party. What we are interested in are the best interests of Queenslanders and rural and regional Queensland.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t have any favouritism whatsoever.\u201d<\/p>\n

They said both Labor and the LNP were “one scandal away or one member quitting, from needing our vote if one side takes majority government”.<\/p>\n
