Rural landholders have until Friday, September 7, to register to take part in the next round of the South Burnett Regional Council’s wild dog baiting program.<\/p>\n

The program is run by the council in conjunction with Biosecurity Queensland.<\/p>\n

“Failure to control wild dogs can result in livestock losses, attacks on domestic pets and the loss of native fauna,” a council spokesman said.<\/p>\n

“Landholders have a legislative responsibility to control declared pests on their land and participation in this program is an effective way to help meet this responsibility.”<\/p>\n

Baiting stations will be organised throughout the South Burnett from September 17-21.<\/p>\n

Owners of domestic and working dogs have been advised to restrain and or muzzle their dogs during the baiting program to minimise the risk of dogs wandering and coming into contact with poison baits.<\/strong><\/p>\n
