Who are the
\nWanderers?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lew Cooper, president of the Wanderers Queensland Club, explained the team is made up of both veteran cricketers and up-and-coming youngsters.<\/p>\n

Since 1976, the club has been making regular tours of country Queensland, playing six or seven matches over a 12-day period.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy match was the sixth and last match of their current tour, which also visited Roma, Blackall, Barcaldine, Springsure and Calliope.<\/p>\n

The club also organises coaching sessions for local junior cricketers before each game.<\/p>\n

Eighteen children from Murgon and Kingaroy took part in the Kingaroy session which was led by Wide Bay Regional Cricket Manager Graham Power.<\/p>\n

The Wanderers tour bus also includes a bunch of keen lawn bowlers who take the opportunity of playing games in each of the towns.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Wondai bowler Dan Learmont has issued an early warning for season 2012-13 after picking up five wickets for the South Burnett XI in an easy victory over a Wanderers Club side in Kingaroy on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Learmont, who won the umpires’ “Most Improved and Fairest” award at the end of last season, had the best bowling figures in the limited overs game: 5\/28 off just nine overs.<\/p>\n

Wooroolin’s Kyron Tunstall took 2\/35 off his 10 overs and Queensland Fire rookie player Lauren Hume, who plays for Nanango, had 1\/37.<\/p>\n

The touring side opened the batting.<\/p>\n

Top scorer for the Wanderers was Wynnum-Manly first-grader Cameron Trask who made a century. The all-rounder, who has represented Queensland in the Imparja Cup, also topped the Wanderers’ bowling figures.<\/p>\n

Brisbane Norths’ batsman Wally Wright – grandson of the legendary Test wicketkeeper Wally Grout – knocked out 64.<\/p>\n

Ross Chapman, who has just returned to Australia after captaining the national side to an historic first victory during its recent over 60s tour to England, made 19.<\/p>\n

The Wanderers’ last wicket fell on the last ball of the 50th over.<\/p>\n

Top scorer for the South Burnett was Anthony Eden (70 not out) who looks to be resuming where he left off last year.<\/p>\n

Eden notched up five centuries and two 50s with South Burnett premiership winners Kingaroy RSL Services last season and topped the South Burnett A Grade Batting Aggregate and Batting Average.<\/p>\n

Dan O’Connor (52), Tim Linnan (42) and Ashley Sippel (26) also kept the scoreboard ticking over quickly for the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

The local side overhauled the target in the 42nd over (5\/237).<\/p>\n

Trask took 2\/39 off 10 overs. Brian Walters – another veteran of the recent Australian Over 60s tour of England – took 1\/17 off three, and Lee Watts 1\/56 off eight overs.<\/p>\n
