Blackbutt Show Society is looking for teams to compete in the Blackbutt Farmers Challenge – a wacky afternoon of fun and games in February which will see artificial cows being milked, “pigs” pulled and tinnies cracked amongst other activities.<\/p>\n

At the end of the day, one of the teams will be crowned the “2015 Farmers Of The Year”.<\/p>\n

Show Society canteen convenor Cheryl Marriott said teams can be all male, all female or mixed … but they will all have to compete against each other.<\/p>\n

Points will be awarded for each challenge and the winning team will take home $1000 ($250 per person) as well as bragging rights.<\/p>\n

Games include riding the Buckaroo Bull (a mechanical bull), Cowcocky Milking, the Stockman’s Shootout, Ringers Ride (chucking gumboots at a target while riding a towed hay bay) and “Plough the Field, Pull the Pig, Stack The Hay, and Crack a Tinny” (much too complicated to explain!).<\/p>\n

Nominations are $100 per team ($25 per person) and close on February 14.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cheryl said the Show Society usually held a cattle sale as an annual fundraiser, but because of conditions a decision was made a while ago not to do so this year.<\/p>\n

All the money raised from Farmers Challenge will go towards improving the showgrounds and facilities.<\/p>\n

Spectators can come along for $1.<\/p>\n

As well as the crazy capers, the Show Society will have a display of photographs in the pavilion and there will be market stalls, show bags, a post-ripping display, and face-painting and a jumping castle for the children.<\/p>\n

The fun and games will start at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 28 (gates open 2:30pm).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The wacky challenges will run until about 8:00pm and will be followed by live music on stage, from Lodi, until midnight.<\/p>\n

A bar will be operating all day until late.<\/p>\n
