Looking for ways to improve your picture taking?<\/p>\n

On Sunday the Nanango and District Camera Club held their first monthly meeting for 2015, followed by a portrait workshop led by Nanango photographer Clive Lowe from clivelowephotography.com.au<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n

The club is planning many more workshops and demonstrations this year.<\/p>\n

So if you’d like to learn more about taking great photos, come along to the St Patricks School library every third Sunday at 1:00pm.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, here are some simple tips to improve your portraits:<\/p>\n

  1. Keep your shoot simple. The more complex your scene, the harder to get that great shot<\/li>\n
  2. Keep your backgrounds (and foregrounds) uncluttered<\/li>\n
  3. Work with natural light where you can<\/li>\n
  4. If you have to use artificial light, keep it simple and use as few lights as possible<\/li>\n
  5. Be as prepared as possible before your subject arrives. If you’re shooting in a studio have your lighting ready and camera set up and ready to go. If you’re shooting on location, know where you want to shoot<\/li>\n
  6. Have your camera\u2019s settings ready to go and do a few test shots before your subject arrives<\/li>\n
  7. Back lighting is a great way to shoot people – particularly when shooting outdoors. This adds interest, depth and sometimes colour to an image<\/li>\n
  8. Lens hoods are a must if you’re doing this outside in bright environments, and you’ll need fill flash<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
