Nanango punters were foiled back in December when heavy overnight rain forced the cancellation of the traditional Christmas Races at Lee Park; at the rescheduled meeting, held on Saturday, they simply boiled …<\/p>\n

With the weather playing havoc with the Nanango Race Club’s schedule, attendances were down but racegoers who did roll up enjoyed some good – if somewhat eventful – racing.<\/p>\n

Nanango trainer Glenn Richardson had a day of ups and downs.<\/p>\n

Race 1 was delayed when his mare Oberina Lady forced jockey Gary Geran to dismount several times, then proved stubborn to load.\u00a0 But the blow came for punters when she stood flat-footed when the gates opened, refusing to jump. Stewards deemed Oberina Lady was a starter so all bets stood.<\/p>\n

Oberina Lady will now have to trial twice successfully before being allowed to race again.<\/p>\n

A barrier issue also affected a Richardson runner in Race 4. Stewards ruled that three-year-old filly Parting had not been fully loaded into her\u00a0outside barrier when the gates opened. Parting was declared a non-runner and all bets on her were refunded.<\/p>\n

On the bright side, Glenn Richardson trained the winners of both Race 3 (Ede Fuse) and Race 4 (Canid).<\/p>\n

In fact, Race 4 was a triumph for South Burnett trainers with Richardson taking out 1st and 3rd and Kumbia trainer James Curtain scoring a second.<\/p>\n
