Nanango’s Racecourse Road will take on a new appearance next year thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Heritage Nanango Community Bank.<\/p>\n

The road, which is the entrance for the Nanango Race Club, Joe Anderson Airfield and the South Burnett Western Performance Club’sgrounds, will be fenced off and lined with an avenue of evergreen trees.<\/p>\n

Notice boards at the entrance gates fronting the D’Aguilar Highway will advertise both the Nanango Race Club and the South Burnett Western Performance Club, as well as the date of the race club’s next meeting.<\/p>\n

Design work for the new entrance has been undertaken by the South Burnett Regional Council’s Natural Resources Department, who are also responsible for the current redesign of Nanango’s CBD.<\/p>\n

According to Natural Resources Department Manager Greg Griffiths, the Racecourse Road upgrade is intended to complement the long-term concept for the town.<\/p>\n

Work on constructing the entrance will be undertaken by the South Burnett Regional Council but will be paid for by the Nanango Race Club using grant funds.<\/p>\n

Division 1 Cr Barry Green, who is also a member of the Nanango Race Club’s committee, today expressed thanks to Heritage Nanango Community Bank for their assistance.<\/p>\n

“The Nanango Race Club always believed that Heritage’s Community Bank concept would be a very worthwhile addition to Nanango and we were early investors in the fund-raising drive to get the branch established,” Cr Green said.<\/p>\n

“Since then Heritage have ploughed back several million dollars into the Nanango community for many projects like this. We’re very lucky to have them here.”<\/p>\n

Cr Green said the first draft of the upgrade design had contemplated using white and purple jacarandas, but it was now likely that Australian native evergreens would be used instead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
