It’s been almost two years since the last disastrous floods hit the South Burnett … would we be better prepared if disaster strikes again this summer?<\/p>\n

Since the January 2013 floods, local emergency services groups and the South Burnett Regional Council have been reviewing their response.<\/p>\n

However, members of the local community also have to play their part. Would you know what to do?<\/p>\n

Firefighters and SES volunteers gathered at Wooroolin Hall on Wednesday for Day 3 of\u00a0CROW-FM’s “Five Towns In Five Days” disaster awareness breakfasts.<\/p>\n

Every day this week the radio station has been hosting community breakfasts from 7:00am to 9:00am, in conjunction with the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal, to raise awareness about storms, fires and floods.<\/p>\n

The breakfasts are providing an opportunity for local residents to brush up on their disaster plans, gather brochures, meet emergency services workers and volunteers, and chat with South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann and local councillors.<\/p>\n

The “Five Towns In Five Days” outside broadcasts began in Nanango on Monday, shifted to Kingaroy on Tuesday and rolled into Wooroolin on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Thursday will be Wondai’s turn (at the Wondai Visitor Information Centre). The week will culminate in Murgon on Friday with a brekkie at the Murgon Visitor Information Centre.<\/p>\n
