Motorists tempted to put the pedal to the metal on South Burnett roads over the Christmas break will have a fresh hazard to deal with … a new brightly coloured police motorbike looming in their rear-view mirrors.<\/p>\n

The Honda has joined the Road Policing Unit which operates out of Dalby and covers the South Burnett region.<\/p>\n

Police Commissioner Ian Stewart announced a new eye-catching livery for Queensland police motorcycles in August.<\/p>\n

One of the new bikes paid a visit to Kingaroy on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese new motorcycles will support the Fatal Five message around Queensland as they are used for marked police patrols, speed detection activities and random breath and drug-testing operations,\u201d Commissioner Stewart said.<\/p>\n

Police will be out in force over the holidays, targeting all road rules, but specifically the Fatal Five: drink driving, speeding, driving tired, not wearing a seatbelt and driving distracted.<\/p>\n

So far this year, 213 people have lost their lives on Queensland roads and police are determined to prevent more tragedies, especially over the festive period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
