Andrew and Meredith Jackson are settling into their new positions as on-site managers of the Yallakool Tourist Park at Bjelke-Petersen Dam.<\/p>\n

The couple, who have lived in the Wide Bay-Burnett for more than 15 years, recently left professional practices to take up the post.<\/p>\n

“Taking on Yallakool Park has provided an opportunity to put our years of experience in the service industry to use,” Andrew said.<\/p>\n

“It also allows us to combine our love of being active, enjoying the outdoors and socialising.”<\/p>\n

The couple will soon be joined by their son Kyle, who will assist them in day-to-day management of the tourist park.<\/p>\n

The couple also have plans to enhance visitor experiences at the dam.<\/p>\n

Yallakool Tourist Park currently offers visitors camping and cabin accommodation with access to an in-ground pool, tennis court, camp kitchen and open grounds for fun activities.<\/p>\n

Over time, they hope to introduce new activities to increase access and enjoyment for community groups such as fishing clubs, ski clubs and bird watching groups.<\/p>\n

One area the Jacksons will be focused on will be contributing to the existing South Burnett tourism industry.<\/p>\n

They’re keen to work with other local tourism operators to boost the region’s overall visitor numbers.<\/p>\n

“Enhancing partnerships with other tourism operators – in particular, Boondooma Dam – will reap benefits for the region through collaborative advertising and complimentary activity planning,” Andrew said.<\/p>\n

“We believe the South Burnett will continue to experience strong growth in tourism and hospitality.<\/p>\n
