Yarraman\u2019s big annual carnival is on this weekend … the Rosalie Fours.<\/p>\n

It was originally sponsored some years ago by the former Rosalie Shire Council, but the Yarraman club has continued with the popular event.<\/p>\n

The weekend will kick off on Saturday morning with a Calcutta \u2013 a noisy start with bidders calling in substantial bids for the favourites in the draw.<\/p>\n

There was heavy rain during the night \u2013 about 60 mls (that’s more than two inches in the old scale) … let\u2019s see how the weekend goes! <\/p>\n

But join the gallery: play will be well worth watching. Teams from Brisbane and Bribie are amongst the regulars for this tournament. <\/p>\n

Yarraman will wind up this year\u2019s season with their Christmas party on Saturday, December 20.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eighteen ends of mixed triples will start at midday with a finger-food party and presentation of the championship trophies to follow.<\/p>\n

Speaking of championship trophies, the club had a change of office bearers in the middle of the year and two events still have to be finalised in the next fortnight: the Mixed Triples and the Men’s Triples.<\/p>\n

The Mixed Pairs was finalised on Thursday and it attracted a gallery.<\/p>\n

Brian and Kay Dugdell scored a last ball, last end win over Neil and Di Currell. Comment was made that so many of the championship matches this year depended on the last ball of the last end with some matches requiring the playing of a deciding end.<\/p>\n

The Currells were on fire early. They led 5-0 after three ends and 11-4 after eight ends.<\/p>\n

The Dugdells picked up their game and led 14-11 after 13 ends. It was tit-for-tat after that with the score at 18-18 with one end to play. The pressure was on. With the end in sight, Currell\u2019s pink bowls cluttered around the kitty.<\/p>\n

Dugdell steadied himself and with a magnificent delivery cannoned off the nearest pink to sit on the kitty.<\/p>\n

Game over, Dugdells winning 19-18 … a comment from the gallery: \u201cHe always seems to do something like that with his last bowl!\u201d<\/p>\n

Wednesday was the Ladies Christmas Party.<\/strong> In the absence of President Helene Johnson, Vice President Kay Dugdell took the reins.<\/p>\n

The day started with a game of 14 ends. A hot roast meal then followed with plum pudding, jelly and custard.<\/p>\n

Results of bowls: As a Christmas gesture, the winners were drawn from cards. They were Di Currell, Leo Robinson, Jenny Moore. Runners-up: Neil Currell, Robyn Diercke.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy News<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Last Sunday was the Selectors Sponsored Trophy Day.<\/p>\n

It is a custom towards the end of the year that the previous year\u2019s team selectors sponsor a trophy day for members. This year the sponsors were Kev Raffin, Ross Olsson and Geoff Clutterbuck.<\/p>\n

Due to the hot weather, the starting times were put back until 2:30pm, a move that was well-received by all participants.<\/p>\n

Two 12-end games of Triples were played with the winners being determined by games and ends won.<\/p>\n

Overall Winners:<\/strong> Wayne Thatcher, Maureen Kemp, Bob Robinson, 2 wins plus 14 ends.

On Wednesday, a Mixed break-up party was held<\/strong>. The lady members of the Kingaroy Bowls Club organised the Christmas breakup for both male and female members. With slightly cooler weather conditions it was more conducive to playing bowls.<\/p>\n

This Month it is being sponsored by Terry Morley, from Dayboro, and he is supplying hams for the prizes.<\/p>\n
