It was an evening of firsts (and lasts) at St John’s Lutheran School on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

The school held its first ever “Celebration of Learning” awards evening to mark the completion of the first year of high school study at the school (Year 8).<\/p>\n

It also marked the last year that Year 7 students would graduate from primary school.<\/p>\n

From 2015, Year 7 will be a high school class, in line with the State Government changes affecting all Queensland schools.<\/p>\n

The night also coincided with the 25th anniversary since the founding of St John’s School in Kingaroy, and the 175th anniversary of Lutheran education in Queensland.<\/p>\n

The Executive Director of Lutheran Education Queensland, Sue Kloeden, who is retiring soon after a long career in Lutheran education, was the guest speaker and presented some of the school awards.<\/p>\n

Entertainment was provided by the Junior and Senior music ensembles, and the Junior and Senior choirs.<\/p>\n
