More than 100 players turned out at Kingaroy Golf Course on Friday for the Mayor’s Charity Golf Day – and to get a chance to meet rugby league legend Shane Webcke.<\/p>\n

The three-person ambrose began with a shotgun start at 10:00am.<\/p>\n

Webcke – a former Kangaroo and Maroon – was “sheriff” for the day, chasing players around the greens collecting “fines”.<\/p>\n

After the golfers returned to the clubhouse, a large auction of donated items \u00a0– overseen by John Allery from Raine & Horne – also took place.<\/p>\n

All money raised on the day was donated to the Mayor’s Community Benefit Fund which supports South Burnett charities and not-for-profit organisations.<\/p>\n

Michael Hunter, from the South Burnett Regional Council, said there had been strong support from the local business community, particularly with the donation of prizes.<\/p>\n

When he spoke to southburnett.com.au<\/strong>, $6000 had already been raised and he was hoping this would grow to $7000-$7500.<\/p>\n

The day was sponsored by Huston Motors, Glen Bailey Earthmoving, GMD and the South Burnett Times.<\/p>\n

UPDATE November 26: The day raised more then $12,000 for the Mayor’s Community Benefit Fund.<\/strong><\/p>\n
