Theatre audiences are in for a double treat when the curtains go up on the Nanango Theatre Company’s final production of the year on Friday night (November 21).<\/p>\n

The NTC will be presenting two one-act plays – “The Package” by Trevor Norman, and “Remains To Be seen” by award-winning playwright Ian Austin.<\/p>\n

Both plays are comedies, and each one is about 45 minutes long.<\/p>\n

“The Package”, which leads the double-header program, will be performed by youngsters Eli Bunyoung, Tiana Collins and Sophie Newton, who are all Year 10 students at Nanango State High School.<\/p>\n

The play deals with three housemates who receive an unexpected parcel in the post one day.<\/p>\n

They quickly become concerned – not only about what might be inside the mystery parcel, but what they should do if the contents turn out to be illegal – with hilarious results.<\/p>\n

Both Eli and Sophie will be known to regular NTC audiences.<\/p>\n

They were involved in front of house and sound and lighting work on NTC productions earlier this year.<\/p>\n

But Tiana’s performance will be her first for theatre.<\/p>\n

However director Katie Campbell said she’s very impressed with the talent in the group, and is sure audiences will be looking forward to seeing more of the three young thespians in future productions.<\/p>\n

After intermission, the second production, “Remains To Be Seen”, will take to the stage.<\/p>\n

This is a darker comedy led by senior actors Jocelyn Richardson, Tracey Clark, Margie Williams and NTC newcomer Linda Hall, who recently moved to the South Burnett from Beaudesert.<\/p>\n

The play focusses on a group of sisters who meet in a funeral parlour to pay their respects to their recently departed sister.<\/p>\n

Past jealousies regarding the quality of their lives soon come to the forefront, followed by issues surrounding money.<\/p>\n

And there’s a surprise ending which directors Anne Davoren and Peter Ainslie believe will end the year with a bang.<\/p>\n

Performances of “Two One Act Plays” will be held at 7:00pm on Friday and Saturday nights, November 21-22 and 28-29 at the Theatre Company’s playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets, Nanango.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tickets – which include a light supper – are $20 for adults and $15 for students and concessions. They can be obtained in advance from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre in Henry Street, Nanango; by phoning (07) 4171-0100; or at the door if any remain unsold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
