Murgon Post Office celebrated 100 years of serving the local community with a special morning tea celebration on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Local residents crowded onto the verandah, which was festooned with balloons, and browsed through the gift shop.<\/p>\n

Adding to the fun, CROW-FM announcers Shaz Birkett and Chris “Corky” Corcoran did live crosses from the footpath all morning,<\/p>\n

Owner Wendy Mobbs took over the Murgon Post Office in January 2014.<\/p>\n

The inside of the store would be barely recognisable to the postmasters of a hundred years ago, but the serious matter of postal deliveries is still co-ordinated from the building.<\/p>\n

Wendy said contractors handled three local runs: Moffatdale \/ Redgate, Windera \/ Cloyna, and Byee \/ Silverleaf.<\/p>\n

Wendy and staff member Lorraine Taylor later cut a Centenary Cake to top off celebrations.<\/p>\n
