November 13, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n The South Burnett Regional Council is one of just 20 local Councils around Queensland which has received a grant under the State Government\u2019s Get Out, Get Active program.<\/p>\n \u201cThe government is providing nearly $20,000 to the South Burnett Regional Council to offer activities for women such as a \u2018Women’s Active Expo\u2019 and an eight-week ‘Active Taster’ program which includes three fitness sessions per week plus childcare,\u201d Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe funding will also employ a part-time project officer to support women’s active participation in the activities.<\/p>\n \u201cGet Out, Get Active will make sport and active recreation opportunities more accessible for more local women.\u201d<\/p>\n Sport Minister Steve Dickson said the State Government was keen to see more Queensland women getting active.<\/p>\n \u201cThe idea is to provide enjoyable, accessible and affordable activities to increase sport and active recreation participation of women, as part of the Queensland Government\u2019s commitment to boost participation levels,\u201d Mr Dickson said.<\/p>\n \u201cFunding of $300,000 has been allocated to kick start the program and from this initial funding round, we will evaluate the response and the results, and consider expanding it in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The South Burnett Regional Council is one of just 20 local Councils around Queensland which has received a grant under the State Government\u2019s Get Out, Get Active program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,172,3],"tags":[1131],"yoast_head":"\n
