{"id":87255,"date":"2014-11-07T17:16:53","date_gmt":"2014-11-07T07:16:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=87255"},"modified":"2014-11-07T17:18:23","modified_gmt":"2014-11-07T07:18:23","slug":"heavenly-camembert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2014\/11\/07\/heavenly-camembert\/","title":{"rendered":"Heavenly Camembert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ford-on-food-d.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ford-on-food-d.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Ford On Food\" width=\"210\" height=\"350\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-77803\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ford-on-food-d.jpg 210w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ford-on-food-d-180x300.jpg 180w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><\/a><strong>November 7, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>by Jason Ford<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fordonfood.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ford on Food<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There aren\u2019t many cheeses that are as heavenly, soft, rich and creamy as Camembert cheese &#8230; besides Brie, of course.<\/p>\n<p>People often can\u2019t tell the difference between Brie and Camembert.<\/p>\n<p>The irony is that there isn\u2019t actually much of a difference.<\/p>\n<p>They were both originally made by monks, just in different regions of France.<\/p>\n<p>Camembert is classified as a soft-rind cow\u2019s milk cheese.<\/p>\n<p>It has a velvety, white mould rind with a pale yellow interior.<\/p>\n<p>As the cheese ripens the creamy smooth p\u00e2t\u00e9 bulges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Camembert originates from France were it has been mass-produced for decades.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However in recent years many countries have developed a number of very good farmhouse varieties of Camembert, which are extremely popular and are readily available.<\/p>\n<p>Camembert should be stored in the refrigerator at about 4 degrees Celsius (39 degrees Farenheit) and wrapped in wax paper, not cling film.<\/p>\n<p>If it is a little unripe then it should be purchased a few days before eating.<\/p>\n<p>You should always serve Camembert at room temperature, so take it out of the fridge a couple of hours before serving.<\/p>\n<p>On a cheese board, it can be accompanied with strawberries, muscatels or fresh slices of pear and plain crusty bread.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/camembert-with-strawberry-640x640.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/camembert-with-strawberry-640x640.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"camembert-with-strawberry-640x640\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-87257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/camembert-with-strawberry-640x640.png 300w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/camembert-with-strawberry-640x640-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/camembert-with-strawberry-640x640-50x50.png 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Turkey, Camembert and Cranberry Quiche<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 x 17cm flan tin lined with short pastry\n<li>100g Camembert cheese, sliced\n<li>100g roast turkey, diced\n<li>60g cranberry sauce\n<li>2 eggs\n<li>150ml milk\n<li>50ml cream\n<li>pinch of nutmeg, ground\n<li>salt and pepper\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Inside the lined flan tin, place the Camembert slices, roast turkey and randomly dollop on cranberry sauce\n<li>Make savoury custard by whisking together eggs, milk,  cream and the season with salt, pepper and nutmeg\n<li>Carefully pour the custard into the prepared quiche shell\n<li>Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes or until set\n<li>Serve with a simple garden fresh salad\n<\/ol>\n<p>Serves 4.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/ford-on-food\/\">Read more Ford On Food columns<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There aren\u2019t many cheeses that are as heavenly, soft, rich and creamy as Camembert cheese &#8230; besides Brie, of course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":9,"featured_media":87257,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[595],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
