A joyride in a stolen car 15 years ago – when he was just 15 years old – has finally caught up with a local man.<\/p>\n

The man, who cannot be named as he was a juvenile when the offence was committed, pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful use of a motor vehicle when he appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court yesterday.<\/p>\n

Police Prosecutor Sgt Nick Nitschke said that back in January 1997, police investigated a report that youths had fled a blue Holden Commodore which had been left in a carpark at Grovely Railway Station station in Brisbane with its motor running and all four doors open.<\/p>\n

The man was located at the time and admitted he had been one of the occupants of the stolen vehicle.<\/p>\n

Sgt Nitschke said he could not explain why the outstanding charge had not been picked up during the intervening years when the man appeared in court on other matters.<\/p>\n

Magistrate John Parker convicted him but imposed no further penalty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
