After a year off the paddock, the South Burnett Thrashers rugby union team is keen to get back into action in 2015.<\/p>\n

Club president Jamie Shirlaw told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> today he had only just started approaching potential players but had received about six expressions of interest in just 24 hours.<\/p>\n

“The Darling Downs rugby union competition have said they would be happy to have us back in the competition,” Jamie said.<\/p>\n

However, they will need to know for sure before the end of this year.<\/p>\n

At this stage, it is unsure whether the Thrashers would play in the C Grade or the B Grade competition.<\/p>\n

The Thrashers withdrew from the 2014 competition in March this year after the club could not sign up enough players to field a team.<\/p>\n

At the time, the return of the Kingaroy Red Ants into the rugby league competition, the retirement of a couple of players and others moving out of the area were blamed for the drop in numbers.<\/p>\n

The decision followed the Thrashers\u2019 most successful season in the B Grade competition in 2013, finishing sixth on the ladder after at one stage threatening to make it into the semi-finals.<\/p>\n
