Boondooma Dam’s Yellowbelly Fishing Competition spokesman Terry Allwood is confident next year’s competition will be one of the best in the event’s 26-year history.<\/p>\n

Last year’s Yellowbelly attracted a total of 659 nominations – including 140 juniors – for the two-day event, just 44 below the competition\u2019s all-time record of 703.<\/p>\n

Terry said this week that with dam levels expected to be around 70 per cent \u00a0in early February, the annual competition (which will be held on February 7-8) should provide a great weekend of fishing and family activities.<\/p>\n

“Fishing conditions at Lake Boondooma will be at their best, the water quality should be good and significant weed beds have now formed,” he said.<\/p>\n

Entry costs for 2015 will remain at $20 for adults and $5 for juniors aged 16 years and under.<\/p>\n

Competition entry fees do not include the cost of camping at the lake.<\/p>\n

Registrations for the fishing competition will be accepted from 12:30pm on Friday, February 6, at the stocking association clubhouse near the main Lake Boondooma kiosk, with a competition briefing at 8:00pm.<\/p>\n

The longest Australian Bass caught, measured and released during each session will attract a cash prize.<\/p>\n

A trophy will also be presented for the best overall Australian Bass caught and released during the competition.<\/p>\n

The fishing and family fun weekend is a major fundraiser that supports the ongoing stocking of Lake Boondooma.<\/p>\n

Accommodation available at the lake includes five self-contained cabins, a communal bunkhouse, powered sites, unpowered lakeside camping areas and modern amenities blocks.<\/p>\n

Information about camping fees can be obtained from the South Burnett Regional Council’s website<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

All anglers must have a current Stock Impoundment Permit which can be purchased from Lake Boondooma’s kiosk or online<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
