For the second year in a row, Fritz Kutzer has proven he’s the “best of the wurst”.<\/p>\n

Fritz, from Kingaroy Butchery, took home the Grand Champion trophy for his venison-flavoured wurst at the annual Wide Bay Wurst Off on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The Wurst Off, which was held in Murgon this year, is a fundraiser for the Karate Union of Australia.<\/p>\n

This is the fourth year that it has been organised.<\/p>\n

Four South Burnett butcher shops took part: Top Of The Town Butchery (Murgon), Shoppingworld Butchery (Kingaroy), Kingaroy Butchery, and Ryan’s Butchery (Wondai).<\/p>\n

Three judges did a blind tasting of the 17 wursts submitted by the entrants.<\/p>\n

Chief judge Jason Ford said the wursts were judged on appearance, aroma, texture and flavour.<\/p>\n

There was also a People’s Choice category where people could vote for their favourites.<\/p>\n
