Kingaroy State School will be one of the next Queensland schools to receive a “flashing light” school zone.<\/p>\n

The lights will be erected in Markwell Street to alert drivers to slow down.<\/p>\n

Premier Campbell Newman today announced another 151 schools across Queensland would receive flashing school zone lights.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said she had been pushing for flashing lights for Kingaroy SS and believes they will help ensure local children have safer journeys to and from class each day.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really pleased Kingaroy State School has been chosen to receive flashing school zone lights in this next round of the program,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cChosen schools are selected based on a detailed risk analysis of all existing school zones in Queensland and following nominations by schools, communities and local MPs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a $10 million program and it is full year ahead of schedule which means schools like Kingaroy SS can get their lights sooner than we hoped.<\/p>\n

\u201cPriority has been given to school zones with a significant crash history, a high level of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, higher speed limits and visibility problems.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
