August 14, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett Vietnam Veterans will be commemorating the Battle of Long Tan<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>– and the sacrifice of all servicemen and women during the Vietnam War – at the annual Vietnam Veterans’ Day Service which will be held in Kingaroy on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The service will begin at 10:30am at the Rotunda in Memorial Park. All members of the public have been invited to attend.<\/p>\n

Chairman of the event, Barry Krosch, said this year’s guest speaker would be South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann.<\/p>\n

Mr Barry Haydon will read the poem “Long Tan”, written by Bill Charlton and published in his poetry collection: “A Rugged Bunch Of Diggers”.<\/p>\n

There will also be a wreath-laying ceremony, recital of The Ode and one minute’s silence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
