There’s a new face at Kingaroy’s Carrollee Hotel following the recent purchase of the hotel building and licence by the Central Queensland Hotels Group<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Central Queensland Hotels operates seven hotels around regional Queensland: two in Mackay as well as pubs at Blackwater, Dysart, Moura and Tieri.<\/p>\n

Steve Glare has been been managing the Blackwater Hotel for nearly eight years but has now transferred to the company’s new pub in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Why did the CQH Group choose Kingaroy?<\/p>\n

“They’ve been looking around Queensland in general for pubs that have the lot … food, pokies, drive-thru bottleshop, TAB\/Keno,” Steve said.<\/p>\n

He said patrons could look forward to some “subtle” changes at the Carrollee.<\/p>\n

“Some of the gaming machines will be updated and there will be more flat screens installed around the place,” he said,<\/p>\n

A new menu will also be introduced.<\/p>\n

“There is one main menu for all the pubs, including a Seniors menu,” he said.<\/p>\n

Another change is that the Carrollee will trade to midnight.<\/p>\n

“It will be guaranteed midnight trading every night,” Steve said.<\/p>\n

The hotel will also introduce CQH Group’s loyalty card scheme which covers all the hotels in the group. Members are awarded points for purchases at any CQH hotel or bottleshop.<\/p>\n

Steve said CQH were in Kingaroy for the long haul.<\/p>\n

“We are not here to come in, change everything and make a quick buck,” he said.<\/p>\n

Former publican Ben O’Callaghan has been licensee at the Carrollee for the past 10 years.<\/p>\n
