Tomorrow will mark an historic occasion … the last term that Year 7 pupils will be in primary schools in Queensland.<\/p>\n

From next year, Year 7 will officially transfer to high school, bringing Queensland into line with other parts of Australia.<\/p>\n

The move has sparked a building frenzy around the State with new buildings being erected on high school campuses to accommodate the extra students.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said Term 4 would be a busy time for schools making final preparations for the move.<\/p>\n

\u201cMuch work is being done to ensure we\u2019re ready to welcome Year 7 to high school in 2015 and I\u2019d like to thank our teachers and staff who have been working so hard to make this happen,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said the past year had been an excellent one for education in Queensland, with many changes.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing on from the Queensland Plan, our new 30-year Education Accord will help shape our system for many years to come,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve just held our Queensland Education Accord Summit and I\u2019d really like to thank our Nanango Electorate delegates who joined me in Brisbane for the day – Mrs Debbie Jackson (representing Kingaroy SHS), Mr Rob Cantle (Yarraman SS) and Mr Michael Nayler (Saint Mary\u2019s),\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a very positive day which brought together teachers, principals and representatives from the state, Independent and Catholic sectors, along with representatives from the community, to plan a vision of what schools will be like in 2044.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so important for our region to be heard, and our delegates did an amazing job of highlighting regional issues and their vision for the future of educational opportunities for our children.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
