<\/a>October 4, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n by Jim Bond<\/strong><\/p>\n The Burnett District Ladies Triples competition was played at the Wondai Bowls Club on two days last week. Ten teams from throughout the region in the prestigious two bowl triples competition.<\/p>\n In ideal conditions, the first day\u2019s play consisted of three games over 18 ends with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals.<\/p>\n District Match Chairperson Linda Cecil said that the competition was of the highest standard.<\/p>\n At the end of the first days play, the teams from Kingaroy, Binjour, Yarraman and Wondai advanced.<\/p>\n On day two, Kingaroy – skipped by Beryl Woods – overcame a determined Binjour team skipped by Pat Darlington 19 to 12 .<\/p>\n Mrs Cecil said that it was a most riveting game to watch with the Kingaroy Ladies running out deserved winners.<\/p>\n In the other semi- final, the Helene Johnson skipped Yarraman team had a close tussle with the Wondai team skipped by Hazel Keding before outlasting them to win 18 to 16.<\/p>\n The final was played over 25 ends with Charmaine MacLeod, Val Jeppesen and Beryl Woods representing Kingaroy and Daphne Stewart, Doreen Fitch and Helene Johnson representing Yarraman.<\/p>\n The weather was again ideal although an inconsistent breeze did pose a few problems.<\/p>\n The game was played at a fierce pace with very little separating the two teams.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
