Parents and carers of adults with a disability met in Kingaroy recently to learn more about the new National Disability Insurance Scheme.<\/p>\n

Wendy Chandler, from the Parent To Parent Association at Yandina, led the workshop at the South Burnett Enterprise Centre, which was organised through CROSB.<\/p>\n

It was the first of three workshops which have been scheduled to explore the new NDIS.<\/p>\n

The workshops are designed to provide information to older parents \/ carers to help them prepare for the introduction of the NDIS which will roll out in Queensland in June 2016.<\/p>\n

The three workshops aim to enable parents\/carers to identify the life goals of the person with a disability and the support they will need to achieve this.<\/p>\n

This knowledge will assist the parent\/carer when the time comes to negotiate with the National Disability Insurance agency.<\/p>\n

The titles of the three workshops are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Creating the vision<\/li>\n
  • Recording the vision<\/li>\n
  • Sharing the vision<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The second workshop, to be led by Matt Armstrong, will be held on November 17. The \u00a0final one is scheduled for February 2.<\/p>\n

    These will both be held from 9:00am to 2:30pm at the South Burnett Enterprise Centre, 6 Cornish Street, Kingaroy.<\/p>\n
